Restaurants in Essex: Enjoy great food nearby

Our holiday park is located close to some top local restaurants, meaning there’s plenty of choices. Take a break from the self-catering lifestyle and go out to enjoy some good food nearby instead.

We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite local restaurants:

1.  The Company Shed, West Mersea – 3 miles from Waldegraves Holiday Park
   “The Company Shed” has gained a strong reputation among locals and tourists for its top-quality seafood. It is regarded as one of the best places for its crab, lobster, fish, mussels and tiger prawn dishes.
2. West Mersea Oyster Bar – 2.7 miles from Waldegraves Holiday Park
   Fancy tucking in to top quality oysters and seafood in a great creek-side location? Then a visit to West Mersea Oyster Bar is for you! Their Colchester Rock Oysters and Mersea Native Oysters are bred in the creeks and then processed next to the restaurant – it doesn’t get any fresher!
3. Grain Restaurant – Colchester – 9.8 miles from Waldegraves Holiday Park
   “Grain” is Colchester’s first small plate restaurant. Everything is starter size so you can create your own tasting menu of as many dishes as you wish. There’s no frills, just good food, a great selection of drinks and a team of staff that want everybody that walks through the door to feel comfortable and enjoy their time.
4. Bella Pais – Colchester – 9.6 miles from Waldegraves Holiday Park
   The family-run Greek Cypriot restaurant has been in Colchester for more than 30 years and has earned its reputation for its enormous steaks, delicious kleftiko and a consistently packed-out dining room.
5. The Boathouse – Dedham – 17 miles from Waldegraves Holiday Park
   “The Boathouse” is located on the River Stour in Dedham and provides a beautiful location to dine. The Restaurant also features al fresco dining in the Summer along with boat hire if you fancy a little excercise before lunch.
