Q. Are there any hidden costs?
A. You will be asked for a £10 deposit for a barrier card when you arrive. This will be refunded when the card is returned.
Q. Do pitches have electric hook up?
A. Yes, all our pitches have hook-ups, we do also offer pitches without electric at peak times. Please note you will require a round blue 3 pin camping plug. We sell them in our Wheatgrain shop. The electric on your pitch has a maximum output of 6 amps.
Q. Is there any additional charge for electric?
A. No, this is included in the pitch price for our holiday guests. Seasonal touring pitch electric is charged on a meter.
Q. Is gas available on site?
A. Yes, we stock various sizes of gas bottles in The Wheatgrain Shop.
Q. What are the arrival and departure times?
A. Arrival for our pitches is any time after 3pm and departure is any time before 1pm.
Q. Are the pitches sheltered?
A. Some pitches are sheltered by hedging, others are open. At any point during your stay you are welcome to see reception to discuss other pitch options.
Q. Can we bring our own barbecues?
A. Yes, as long as they are not lying on the grass. Barbecues are to be disposed of in the metal bins provided. No open fires.
Q. Do the showers cost anything?
A. No, the shower, toilet and washing up facilities are included in the price.
Q. Can we re-freeze our ice blocks on-site?
A. Yes, we have a freezer that can be used for re-freezing ice-blocks.
Q. Can I amend my holiday?
A. Yes, of course, we understand that your circumstances may change. If you would like to change your contact details , grade, duration, or add additional members to your booking, simply call our bookings team directly. Amendments can only be made by the lead name on the booking and may be subject to an administration fee.
Q. Are there recycling points on the Park?
A. Recycling points are available around the Park so there will never be one far from you. These will be clearly marked on your Park map.
Q. Are pup tents allowed?
A. Yes, a maximum of one pup tent is permitted per pitch which may sleep a maximum of 2 children under the age of 12 years old. This only applies when you pay for one full price pitch and is charged at an additional cost. Please be aware that the people in the tent are included in the number of people on your pitch, therefore must be paid for following the guidelines below.
Q. How many people can I bring?
A. You can have a maximum of 6 people to your pitch. Four people are included in your pitch price.
Q. How can we pay for fishing?
A. You can purchase a day ticket from our Fishing Warden at the fishing lakes or at Reception. There is a £10 deposit for a Barrier Pass when you arrive (per vehicle). A rod licence is compulsory to fish at our lakes. Take advantage of our fishing breaks and enjoy unlimited FREE fishing when staying in our holiday homes!
Q. Can I access WiFi from my accommodation?
A. Yes, however as you are choosing a holiday in a rural location, the mobile phone & WiFi signal are also rural. You may find it intermittent or simply unavailable. We are sorry for any inconvenience but we are not able to guarantee the service. WiFi is brought to the Park by an outside provider and additional charges apply. Q. Do you accept same-sex groups?
A. No single-sex parties or groups of under 21’s will be accepted.
Q. Can I bring my commercial vehicle on the site?
A. Generally, we do not allow commercial vehicles on the park. Please call us if you have a question regarding your commercial vehicle.
Q. Are motorhomes allowed?
A. Yes, please call and we will allocate you a suitable pitch.
Q. Do you have storage facilities for caravans?
A. Yes, we do have a storage compound in which caravans, boats, and jet skis can be stored. Click for the prices.
Q. Do you require proof of insurance for boats and watercrafts?
A. Yes, we do. Any boat or jet ski will only be permitted to launch from the park slipway on the production of a valid liability insurance certificate and a copy must be held in reception. Stickers are issued at reception & must be displayed at all times. Maximum one jet-ski per pitch. Additional charges apply.
Q. How long does the tide cover The Strood onto Mersea and will I be able to get across?
A. The Strood is a causeway crossing the marshes and the Strood Channel between the coast of Essex in the south east of England and Mersea Island. About half a mile (800 metres) in length, it carries the B1025 Mersea to Colchester road and is the only road access to the island. It is regularly inundated at high tide.Tide tables are available in Reception, you can find out the tide times here before you depart from home:
Q. Where is the nearest caravan accessory and spare parts store?

Q. Do you have a mobile charging area?
A. Yes, we do. It is £1 per device per hour. Please bring your phone charger with you.
Q. Do you have hairdryers in your showers?
A.Yes, they are located in our bottom shower block. We are planning to place them in the top shower blocks as well.
Q. What size are your pitches?
A. Our electric pitches provide an ample area of 7.5×7.5 metres to include your tourer, motorhome, tent or trailer tent and where permitted gazebos, awnings and pup tents. Some pitches are larger or slightly smaller, this is just an average size. Pitch bases are either grass or hard-standing. Hard-standing is mainly concrete, with reinforced grass on the side. Our hard-standing pitches are not suitable for tents. Please see our map or contact our bookings department for further information.
Q. What does ‘Follow the Bear’ signs mean?
A. Waldegraves Holiday Park now has the new national lost child safety scheme operating on-site: Follow the Bear! We’ve installed Freddie Bear trail signs all over the park so that lost children as young as 3 years old can follow the bear to a safety station staffed with friendly helpers to look after your little ones. Costing less than 90p a month for a subscription, safety stations can help reunite children with their parents anywhere in the UK using their 24/7 emergency hotline and children’s unique ID wristbands.
